PHILADELPHIA – On Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., The Southeastern Pennsylvania Manufacturing Alliance (SEPMA) will host “Manufacturer Resources that Increase Your Bottom Line,” a networking and panel discussion event for regional manufacturers at PECO Energy Hall. SEPMA will host the event in partnership with the Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO), Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Philadelphia Works, Inc.

Manufacturing companies across the nation report common issues, attracting and retaining qualified talent, extensive training costs, and unpredictable tariffs to name a few. More and more, companies are turning to workforce development as a solution to create a scalable pipeline of skilled workers, subsidize training expenses, learn of available tax incentives, and satisfy company demand. This program will provide attendees with information on a wealth of resources available to local businesses that can cut costs and help save thousands of dollars.

The event will begin with breakfast and networking at 7:30 a.m., followed by a brief overview of federal and state programs available to manufacturers, and conclude with a panel discussion and Q&A. The panel discussion will focus on the panelists’ experiences in implementing training or apprenticeship programs that helped increase their bottom line. Presenters include Garrick Weaver, Rhoads Industries; Jennifer Tenfelde, Polysciences; Ted McLaughlin, DiSorb Systems Inc.; Gena Alulis, Cliq Jewelry; Kelly Hynes, Weber Display and Packaging; and Kevin O’Brien, Kevin O’Brien Studio.

Tickets are on sale for $20 at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/manufacturer-resources-that-increase-your-bottom-line-tickets-67043760693. A full breakfast will be provided, and all attendees will receive a free energy audit courtesy of PECO Energy. All fees collected will help offset the costs of the event and neither PECO, SEPMA, Philadelphia Works, EPA, nor PIDC will collect a fee from the monies collected.

About SEPMA: The Southeastern Pennsylvania Manufacturing Alliance (SEPMA) is a multi-employer collaborative comprised of regional manufacturers that work with education, workforce development, economic development, and community organizations to address the workforce and other competitiveness needs of the manufacturing industry.
