Peirce College and Chester County Economic Development Council are partnering on the Good Jobs Challenge, a workforce training initiative.

Peirce College is working with the Chester County Economic Development Council as part of the Good Jobs Challenge, a federally-funded workforce training program focused on empowering area residents with the skills necessary for in-demand jobs in healthcare and life sciences, energy and infrastructure.

The program serves those living in Bucks, Berks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. It is being led by Philadelphia Works, which is working in collaboration with three backbone organizations: The Skills Initiative; Philadelphia Area Labor Management, and the Philadelphia Energy Authority. In addition, several regional training providers were selected for the program, including the Chester County Economic Development Council.

Peirce College is collaborating with the council to provide medical billing and coding education for up to 24 qualified students, who can earn a stackable, undergraduate certificate in Medical Billing or Medical Coding at no cost. Learn more.

“We are honored to continue our work with the Chester County Economic Development Council to strengthen the communities we serve,” said Brad Hodge, vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Services. “We look forward to helping more residents of our region prepare for careers in health information administration and transform their lives.”

Peirce was invited to participate in the program following last year’s successful collaboration with the council on Project Reconnect, which removed barriers for students who had stopped out before they earned a credential so they could easily re-enroll and complete their education.

The Good Jobs Challenge aims to prepare 3,000 residents for high-quality jobs and connect those residents to the actual jobs in the greater Philadelphia region.
